Why is my draft horse lame?

My ferrier was out and trimmed my barefoot horse he was sound for one complete day after then I went out to the barn and found him on three legs extremely lame, wouldnt put pressureon his front hoof. he absesis in the other front hoof back in April. Is this a absesis or was he cut to short. I have no heat in his hoof and little pulse in his leg. Help any suggestions????
