Why is my 9 yr old daughters feet really pink? in flip flops?

my daughter was asking why her feet gets really pink when she is outside wearing flip flops or walking around barefoot outside? is this normal for her feet to be so pink , especially on the heels? also can flip flops ruin the arch support on her feet to be causing this, i told her barefoot outside is much healthier am i correct?? help!
