I bought Vibram Five Finger Shoes and I am wondering if they are safe to wear?

I work at Walmart and I just walk around all the time. I have been wearing them for about four days now and my feet having been hurting quite a bit. Will my feet get used to basically being barefoot or should I switch back to regular shoes?
