How can i get my horse to watch where she is walking?

I have a 13 year old Arabian who was kept on a dry lot for at least a year. I just got her and we have rocky terrain so when i take her out for a trail ride, she trips over every tiny thing because she is looking around at the trees or anywhere but that ground. How can i get her to learn to watch the ground? Also, my experience level isn't so great so i cant teach her to do anything new like pick up her feet or something. I do know the basics though. Another thing is she doesn't have shoes but has hard enough feet to go barefoot.
